So you've made it to your 7 day mark.
You are likely experiencing a rollercoaster of emotions, and are just barely hiding them beneath a slightly over exaggerated "it's fine, it's fine, everything's fine" smile. Or worse, you've entered the point of complete disassociation, and you no longer feel like you are inside your body. RELAX. We are here to make sure that you are fully setup and organized so that when you finally get to walk down that aisle, you've covered ALL of your bases!
We've compiled a check list of MUST DO'S to help keep your thoughts organized during this exciting week!
1. Confirm details with ALL of your vendors
Make sure that every one of your vendors is fully aware of their roles, and that they have all of the informations they need. Do not assume ANYTHING. Give your DJ a list of songs you would like to hear, and your photographer a list of shots you’d like to have
Pressed tip: This is a great job to delegate to your bridesmaids or maid of honour! remember, you don't have to do EVERYTHING by yourself ;)
2. Break in your shoes
The last things you need on your wedding day are blisters. Break in your shoes. wear them around the house, & practise dancing in them with your partner!
Pressed tip: bring flats! once everyone's had a couple of drinks, and the party gets started, no will be looking at your feet!
3. Prepare payments & organize gratuities
No need to be scrambling around for cash on your wedding day. get all of your payments organized, and prepare your vendor gratuities in advance. separate them into envelopes cleary labelled with each vendors name.
Pressed tip: This is another great task to delegate to your maid of honour. Prepare your payments & tips, and pass them along to your #2 so that you don't even have to think about it on your big day!
4. Prepare your bridesmaid & groomsmen gifts
Wrap them, label them, and add a cute little hand-written note
5. Pack a survival kit
Your survival kit should contain:
-Tampons -First aid kit
-Bobby pins -Phone charger
-Hair ties -Mini sewing kit
-Clear nail polish -White chalk (hides stains on a white dress!)
-Tide to go -Extra cords, cables and batteries for any A/V equipment
-Super glue -Foundation
-Blotting papers -Flats
-Bottled water -Breath mints
-Lipstick -Dental floss
-Lotion -Hand sanitizer
-Advil -List of vendors names and numbers
6. Drop off as much as you can in advance
Most venues let you drop off supplies and decorations in advance. Take advantage of this! No need to be worrying about where everything is, and how it's supposed to get to where it's going on your wedding day
Pressed tip: sort your decorations and supplies into clearly labelled totes, that way if anything gets mixed up, it's an easy problem to solve!
7. Take care of your body
Puffy eyes & blemishes have no business appearing on your wedding day. 8 hours sleep. every night. Eat a balanced diet, drink plenty of water, and find time to hit the gym or go for a run at least once during your wedding week!
Pressed tip: your wedding week is NOT the time to test out the latest no gluten, no carbs, no protein, no fat, goji berry & dragon fruit, paleo, vegan crash cleanse. you need to make sure you are your usual bubbly self on your big day. Make sure that you have enough energy to enjoy yourself -from the hair appointment to the dance party!
8. Confirm all of your beauty appointments
Make sure there are no mixups on your big day!
Pressed tip: Let them know in advance your getting married! Sometimes aestheticians will throw in a little something special for you :)
9. Finalize your floor plan-and send revisions to your coordinator
There is always last minute seating chart revisions. if people cancel, or your sister-in-law to be, has decided to brig her new boyfriend, make sure you revise your seating chart, and send it to your coordinator! the more you communicate, the less you have to deal with on your big day.
10. Pack a bag, and have someone deliver it to your hotel
Get your overnight bag prepared well in advance, and have your MOH or MOB deliver it to your hotel
Pressed tip: Make sure you throw in an easy to make meal, or leftovers from the night before. Chances are that you and your partner will be so overwhelmed with the excitement the day of, that you will forget to feed yourselves!
11. Spend some time with your partner
This is your last week of engagement! Plan a date night, or spend an afternoon watching movies with your love. Even if it means cutting something out of your weeding plans, make sure you enjoy each other during this exciting week. Your partnership is more important than gold dipped feathers and eucalyptus garlands.
Pressed Tip: agree to spend this time NOT discussing any wedding details!
12. Practice your vows
No, they're just going to come to you in a moment of deep passion and love as your standing in the archway with your sun-kissed hair blowing in the wind. practice them until they are in your bones. Practice in front of a mirror. Say them to your dog, Practice your vows in an english accent as you stand on your head. do it until you couldn't possibly forget, even if you tried. trust me. you will thank me later.
